This directory provides access to solar wind proton and alpha particle
parameters (densities, flow and thermal velocities) at full resolution
(92-sec.) from the Solar Wind Experiment (SWE) on the Wind
spacecraft.  The SWE Principal Investigator is K.W.Ogilvie of
Goddard Space Flight Center.  The ion data of this directory were
prepared by Justin Kasper at MIT and by A.J. Lazarus of MIT, SWE
Co-Investigator.

The data are organized into monthly files.  High level
details of the formats and contents of the files' data records are
contained in the documentation_jck.doc file of this directory.  It was
created by Justin Kasper at MIT as the documentation file intended
to accompany the 1995 data file.  However, virtually all its contents
are generic to all years' data files.  A separate file,
file_specific_info.txt, contains an aggregation of all the file-specific
information in the mostly-common year-specific files that Justin
provided.

A far more detailed discussion of the data processing, exerpted from
the 2002 Ph.D. dissertation of Dr. Kasper is available in this
directory as a PDF file (see thesis.pdf).

Note that these data are alternatively accessible with graphical
browse and subsetting capabilities from the FTPbrowser interface
