This SOFIE (Solar Occultation for Ice Experiment) data set contains color-coded pairs of daily plots of several physical parameters vs altitude and longitude. Parameters include temperature, mixing ratios for H2O, O3 and CH4, and ice mass. Members of each pair are for the northern and southern hemispheres. The interface also supports plotting of lower level data.

The daily netCDF files at GATS, Inc., hold level 2 SOFIE (Solar Occultation for Ice Experiment) data. These include primary absorber mixing ratios (CO2, CH4, NO,H2O, O3), 10 aerosol extinction profiles, uncertainity profiles for mixing ratios and extinctions, 83 km measurement lat./long., Temperatures, Pressures, Time, [0.150 km sampling, 150km to 3.0km, 30 profiles/day]. Vertical resolutions are 1km for gases and for polar mesospheric clouds, and .LT.3.5 km for temperatures and pressures.

This data set, provided by the Communications Research Centre (CRC) in Ottawa, Canada, consists of electron density profiles for the ionosphere above the F2 maximum (topside ionosphere). The data are computed from digital values of frequency and virtual height, scaled from ionograms that are measured by the ISIS 1 (International Satellites for Ionospheric Studies) Swept-Frequency Sounder. The data are ordered chronologically. Telemetry stations are not identified, but satellite location, Greenwich mean time of observation, solar zenith angle at the satellite, dip latitude at the satellite, total electron content down to the lowest height of topside signal reflection (normally near 300 km), and other relevant information is noted with each profile. The format gives sequences of numbers for each point scaled from the ionogram. These sequences include electron density at the successive points, and the coefficients a2, b3, b4, b5, etc. from which geometric heights can be calculated, using formulas 40 and 41 in J. E. Jackson, "The reduction of topside ionograms to electron-density profiles," Proceedings of the IEEE., p. 960, June 1969. These formulas can also be used to calculate interpolated density-height values. A CRC interpolation program (available at NSSDC) can be used with this data set. (

This data set from the ISIS 2 (International Satellites for Ionospheric Studies) Swept-Frequency Sounder consists of electron density profiles for the ionosphere above the F2 maximum (topside ionosphere). The data set was generated from the averaged ionogram binary data (SPIO-00318) recorded by the Topside Sounder. The data are obtained with the TOPIST program, which analyzes the data, automatically scales the ionogram traces and resonances, and inverts the traces into an electron density profile. The same program is available for use to hand-scale the data if desired. Output data items include spacecraft position, electron density profile, assessment of quality, resonance and cut-off frequencies, and both the O-trace and X-trace.

The Level-2 Electron Density Profiles data product contains F-region electron density as a function of altitude and latitude derived from the GUVI limb data. Summaries of estimated peak electron density and total electron content are also given as Level 3 products. The profiles are derived from the 135.6-nm channel of the GUVI limb data. The 135.6-nm emission at night is due almost exclusively to recombination of O+ ions. Since O+ is the primary ion in the F region, the 135.6-nm volume emission rate is closely related to the square of the electron density. These level 1C movies from the Global Ultraviolet Imager (GUVI) instrument on board the Thermosphere Ionosphere Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics (TIMED) mission contains far-ultraviolet (FUV) airglow fluxes in calibrated, geolocated (at a 150-km altitude), and rectified intensities (gridded and binned to a 25 km x 25 km resolution). Each data set consist of movies with 14 days of mapped images of the log intensities by orbit for one of the 5 wavelengths bands: HI(121.6nm), OI(130.4nm), OI(135.6nm), LBHS(141-152.8nm), and LBHL(167.2-181.2nm)wavelengths, using either a transverse Mercator projection, or a North Polar projection, or a South Polar projection.

This Level 3 data set of wind vectors from the Thermosphere Ionosphere Mesosphere Energetics and Dynamics (TIMED) Doppler Interferometer (TIDI) contains zonal and meridional components of the neutral wind measured at 60-180 km that are mapped onto fixed angle-along-the-track grids. Vertical resolution is ~2 km at the lower altitudes and 25 km at the thermosphere, with an accuracy that approaches ~3 m/sec. Each profile is annotated with ancillary data including profile position and processing status.
